DIY Cellphone Microscope
Every person carries a cell phone today, and is aware of all its latest features. But, what is new about the DIY cellphone Microscope?
Well, the DIY cell phone is not just any other cell phone that we see every day, but it has to it a special addition which makes it unique and also incomparable to the others. The DIY cellphone microscope makes a all emergency calls, serves you as a regular late night texting platform, and also helps in acting as a microscope. Surprised? Well, let’s read ahead!
This new design was the original make of Ayodogan Ozcan, who by profession was an assistant professor of electrical engineering and also a proud member of the California NanoSystems Institute in the University of California, Los Angeles.
He simply wrote software and got all the hardware requirements in and off the shelves for $10 as reported by the New York Times.
According to the design, the cellphone was capable to work like a microscope in identifying and reading through the cells. These cellphones are designed to identify different diseases and will soon be seen in the markets and the hospitals for screening the diseases like anemia, malaria, tuberculosis, etc. but how will this happen?
It’s extremely easy, just as its concept. Well, one prototype showed a slide with a small prick of blood which was later inserted into the phone’s sensors which are designed to detect the content on the sensor and then send all its information to a health center. Once the information is further diagnosed at the health centers, the disease can be easily detected.
The new gadget is believed to replace the huge, heavy and expensive microscopes which are used to detect all the small and large diseases or disorders. The DIY cellphone microscope will help you to avail medical help even in places like small villages and towns, where there are no medical assistances.
